My Jack has a cough

Published by pattye under Living Edit This

My oldest grey, Jack, has a cough.  I don’t know if I should be worried.  I did call and make an appointment with the vet for tomorrow.  They said if he gets worse, they will squeeze him in today.  He woke me up at 1 a.m.  I thought he had some kibble stuck in his throat.  I gave him a homemade frozen treat.  I thought it would help make the kibble go down.  It didn’t work, so then I gave him some cheese and finally some lunch meat.  He seemed better by 3 a.m., so I went back to bed.  This morning, I have concluded that he has a cough.  I don’t know how serious that is.  He has had his shots for kennel cough, but maybe he has canine flu?  I hope I am overreacting to this and it turns out to be nothing.

I am thankful everyday that I have healthy dogs.  I know that one day that will not be the case. I had a 15 year old cocker spaniel that was in poor health for about two years before she died.  The vet said I had to celebrate her lasting from season to season and then it was month to month.  I don’t feel that I let her stay a day past the time she was ready to go.  I could tell she was ready.

So, today, I am anxious wondering what is wrong with Jack.  He is eating fine.  He doesn’t seem to be feeling bad.  He just has this little cough that comes up from time to time. Frown
