Scarying Myself
I usually order my books through the local library. It’s one of the ways that I am frugal. I just received a notification that the book The Uninvited: The True Story of the Union Screaming House by Steven LaChance is now available. I was interested in this book for two reasons: 1) I went to high school with Steve and 2) I live near Union and still visit often. I got excited when I saw the book was in, but then I realized that my husband will be gone next week. Why is that an issue? I don’t want to read a book about spirits in a house while I’m alone in the middle of nowhere. I can scare myself easy enough without that book helping me.
Thinking about this book brought back memories of reading the Amityville Horror. I can’t remember how old I was when it came out, but it was in my early teens. My best friend, Laura, stayed over at my house one weekend and we were reading it. It came time to go to bed and we had separate rooms. We were both scared to have THAT book in our room, so we kept throwing it into the others room. We still laugh about that to this day.
I really don’t know what even possessed me to order Steve’s book. I love learning about good spirits like the ones that John Edward talks to, but not the evil ones.
