What are you paying for a turkey this year?

One of the first things I do on a Monday morning is to look up the latest ad for our local grocery store.  I like to see what they have on sale for the week and plan my grocery list accordingly.  I only buy things that are on sale from this store and then go to Walmart for everything else.  I have found that Walmart marks down their prices to match this stores prices many times and that saves me from bringing in an ad.  The grocery store has more variety though.  Our Walmart doesn’t carry the Diet Code Red.

I was quite disappointed to see the price of turkeys.  I guess I shouldn’t be suprised, but I hoped it would be less.  The going price is $.69 for the store brand and $.79 for a HoneySuckle White.  Gosh, remember the days when you could buy one for $.29 or maybe it was $.19  a pound?  I would buy one or two just because they were so cheap and I would keep them in the freezer until we were ready for one.  I guess I will still buy one this year and save it for later.

The only thing that the store has on sale that is a decent price is their soda.  I’m a big Diet Pepsi and Diet Code Red Mountain Dew.  It’s on sale for 3 for $8.88.  I will definitely buy three and maybe even more.  My husband doesn’t drink soda, but I am addicted to it.

I really expected more things to be on sale this week since it is the week before Thanksgiving.  I’m kind of bummed out.

What are the turkey prices in your area this year?
