Anticipation
I am convinced that having pets is much like having children. My dogs have a lot of toys, but they only want the toy that the other one is playing with. They do not fight over toys, but they wait until the one with the toy puts it down and then they steal it.
My husband and I do not understand why our dogs want the bone that the other dog has. Why would a dog want a nasty, slobbery bone, when they can have a fresh one? In the evening, the game of bone stealing goes on for hours. Jack will have the bone and Scout will wait until he puts it down to get a drink. She will then grab the bone and chew it until she needs a drink. Jack then steals it back. Jack will sometimes try to tempt Scout with toys to get her to give up the bone. He will toss a toy in the air, squeak it like crazy, and well, just make the toy look like the funniest thing in the world. Scout used to fall for this trick, but she has learned that toys are not as much fun as Jack makes them seem.
This morning, this was the scene in our house. Jack is chewing on the bone while Scout waits… anticipating.
Look at her concentration. Jack is enjoying the teasing.
And then it happens….success!!!!
