My Special Christmas Decorations

Published by pattye at 1:08 pm under Living Edit This

Yesterday I told you about my Christmas Eve traditions. Today, I’m going to show you three of my very special ornaments/decorations that have been in my family for years.

This ornament I have had since I was in first grade, which is 37 years. As you can see, the star needs to be replaced.  The sticker on the back says “Made in Western Germany”.  I like how this one looks with a light behind it. The pictures do not do it justice.  This was always the first one I put on the tree when I was growing up.

This bank was given to my brother by our grandparents for his first Christmas.  They received it from their bank.  Unfortunately, I repainted it many years ago and covered up the name of the bank.  The bank has been a family tradition since my brother was born 49 years ago.  I have had it under my own tree for the past 22 years.  My brother is not as sentimental as I am, so I have it.

These silver ball ornaments belonged to my grandparents.  I am not sure of the age, but they have to be at least 50 years old.  They are probably much older than that. They are heavy and have a metal hook attached to them.  They have been under our tree for as long I can remember and when I married, they came with me.  These ornaments always go on the bottom branches because of their weight.

I think one of the reasons I love the holiday season is because of all the memories these items bring me.

Tomorrow, I will show you how I decorate my house.
