Christmas Cards - Another Tradition
Do you send out Christmas cards?
As a child, I dreamed about the day that I would be able to send out my own Christmas cards. The first year that I was married, I was so excited to send out my own cards. I sent them to everyone that my Mom sent hers to and, of course, I added friends of my own.
Christmas cards are still a big part of my holiday. I have scaled back quite a bit though. I think many people look at sending out cards as a chore. I don’t. I enjoy including photos of my dogs in my cards. I’ve received some criticism from this. I don’t complain when I receive pictures of people’s kids. The dogs are my furkids and mean the world to me, so they are included in my cards. I start searching for the perfect photo in early fall. I spent hours picking out the perfect card this year. Yes, it’s a waste of time considering that most cards will end up in someone’s trash can. I enjoyed doing it though.
This year I sent cards out to fellow greyhound lovers. Finally, I found people like me. They enjoy Christmas cards and showing off their dogs. My refrigerator is being decorated with greyhound cards.
This is the card I sent out last year. I had two different cards, but the same photo.

Here is the card for this year. I wanted the dogs in front of a roaring fire, but we didn’t have wood for a fire that day. I made my own fire with another picture. I think it turned out okay. I had to add stones to the fireplace because I removed a coffe table that was in the old photo. Next year, I need to have a different pose for the dogs. They look almost the same as last year. I’m thinking a photo from camping may be in the works.
