Greys & Things

I did something last night with my husband that we haven’t done since 2000.  I think it will be shocking to all of you. Are you ready?  We went to a movie!   The last movie that we saw at the theater was Castaway with Tom Hanks.  I’m not sure why we stopped going to movies.  I think it has to do with the fact that movies come out for rental so quickly now and we prefer just to rent them and watch in the comfort of our own home.  It’s obviously cheaper to watch them at home, so that’s probably a big reason.  We could have watched at least 4 movies for what we paid last night for one or if we had rented from Redbox, we could have rented 13 movies.  We had a very nice time though.  We went with another couple.  We had dinner and a movie and I can’t tell you the last time that we did both of those in one night.  It has been many, many years.

The movie we saw was  Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood.  It was an excellent movie.  We all really liked it.  I will have to see it again in the privacy of my home because there were times that the audience laughed and I couldn’t hear everything that was said.  It takes a lot for a movie to impress me these days, but this one really did.  I was close to tears at the end of this movie.  I’m sure I would have cried if I would have been watching it at home.

There are two other movies that are out now that I really want to see.  Will I see them in the theater or wait for them to come out on DVD?  I have a feeling it will be when they come out on DVD, but last night was a lot of fun and I’m glad we broke our streak of not going to the movies.
