Shouldn’t Blankets Be Comfy?

Published by pattye under Living Edit This

My husband and I were at Walmart in early December shopping.  As we left the store, he told me that he saw a blanket that he almost bought.  I asked him why he almost bought a blanket since we have more than enough at home.  He said it was camouflaged.  That explains it.  My husband loves camouflaged things.  He has shirts, shorts, jackets and now Jack, our greyhound, even has a camouflaged collar.  He said the blanket was only $9.96.  I could tell he really wanted it, so I decided to surprise him with it for Christmas.  I went back to Walmart a few days later and a sales associate helped me find it.  I was shocked when we found it because the blanket was very rough feeling.  I couldn’t imagine that is what he wanted, but it was the correct price and it was camouflaged.  I purchased it and as soon as I arrived home, I put it in the washing machine.  It came out as stiff as when it went in.  I washed it three times before I decided to wrap it up as a present.

He was thrilled when he opened it.  I commented on how rough it felt.  He said he noticed that in the store, but figured after washing it would be better.  I told him I had washed it three times and it still was rough.  We laughed about how it could barely be folded because it was so stiff.

The Blanket

I am determined to get this blanket to be soft.  I have now washed it five more times and soaked it in baby detergents that are supposed to soften items.   I’m slowly winning the war with this blanket, but it is still not really soft.  It can now be folded though.  I think the color is going to wear off of it before it becomes a cozy blanket.   My husband loves it though and sits in his recliner with it on weekends.  I guess that is all that matters.
