Fired My Bank Today
I am the owner of a home-based business. I have been in business since 1995. Things were going great until about two year. I was an independent contractor and the company I did work for decided to move the work to India. I adjusted to the loss of business, but then last year, more of my business dropped off. I have used the same bank for probably ten years or more. I have my business account, personal checking and personal savings there. They require their business accounts, even the small people like me, to have $1,000 in their accounts at all time or they charge a service charge. It really wasn’t a problem until about two years ago.
I shopped my account around and a found a bank who would not require a minimum balance and who also gave me a debit card as well as on-line banking. My old bank did not offer these things on my business account. I went to my bank today and asked if they had any other type of account that I could get into even if it meant paying for transactions. I was told a flat no. I promptly closed my account and opened the new account elsewhere. I should have done this two years ago. I feel so good. I ended up getting the account without a monthly fee and gained the debit card and online banking.
I guess I’m a fool for remaining loyal to my old bank because they definitely don’t care about me.
