Expecting Snow Tonight
Snow and possibly ice are predicted for us tonight. The news media always likes to hype it up, of course. People are stocking up on food like they will be stuck in their house for a month. I could actually be stuck that long, but I’m the exception. I did go out to the store yesterday because I did need to pick up a few things and honestly, I do like to get out one last time because I probably will be stuck here until at least Saturday.
We probably will not get mail for the rest of the week. Our mail person does not follow the moto of delivering through sleet and snow, etc. If she cannot see pavement, she does not come down our road. I was shocked to find that out the first year we lived here.
Jack and Scout will be excited to play in the snow. They love to do snow zoomies in fresh snow. They do not like the snow so much after it gets ruts in it and has re-frozen. They have trouble walking on it then. Hopefully I will get some really good photos of them playing in the snow.
I feel bad for my husband because he has to actually drive in the snow. It normally takes him an hour to get to work and in bad weather, well, you never know how long it will take. The roads out here are never really cleaned well, so I always worry about him being out there.
The only time that I really enjoy snow storms is when they occur on a weekend and my husband and I are stranded together. As a child, I used to pray for snow. I feel bad now because my poor father had to drive 1.5 hours to get to work on a good day. I’m sure he didn’t appreciate my cheers when the snow occurred as it would at least double his drive time. He never complained though. I guess he remembers what it was like as a child to love the snow.
