Hubby and I went shopping today to find him new work shoes. Hubby is a very frugal shopper. Last year, he was able to find work boots for $17 on clearance at Kohl’s. This year, he was not so lucky. I told him the chances of us finding another pair of work boots for $17 was not very likely. Hubby is frugal and picky about his shoes. He normally wears his shoes until they get holes in them because he wants to get his money’s worth. His shoes normally last him a year and he wears them almost every single day. Kohl’s didn’t have anything decent on clearance. Sears didn’t have anything cheap enough. We finally found the same pair that he bought last year at Kohl’s on clearance for $17 at Famous Brands for $49.99. It was not the deal he wanted, but his feet were starting to get wet from the holes in the bottom of his shoes and he didn’t want to wait another week. Famous Brands did have 4 pair of socks for $1.00, so we got a deal with those.
We finally made it out for my birthday dinner, which was really a lunch. We ate at Texas Roadhouse. I was little disappointed, but it was fine. I’m wondering if the blood pressure medicine is changing my taste buds. Food is just not tasting as good to me.
Tonight, I fried us some Spam for dinner. I haven’t had Spam since I was a child. I heard on the news that Spam sales go up during a recession. It’s not as flavorable as I remember. Again, I wonder if it is just my taste buds. Hubby said it was good.
We watched the movie W. tonight. I had been wanting to see it. I’m not sure how I really feel about it. The private conversations shown in the movie are just that, private. How does anyone know what was said? I don’t think President Bush and Laura shared those conversations with anyone. My feeling is that a lot of it was made up.
Happy Saturday!

(Hubby and Jack on vacation at Table Rock Lake, Oct. 2008)
We are gearing up for camping season, hence, the picture of hubby and Jack. Hubby received the RV awning mat/rug yesterday that he ordered from Ebay. He got it for a very good price. We will be camping in just a few weeks. I’m getting excited. We will probably go on our own for a few times before Memorial weekend. Memorial weekend will be spent with hubby’s immediately family. We have four sites reserved for that weekend.
Tomorrow, hubby and I are going work shoe hunting for him. We have looked the past two weekends without luck. The problem is that he wants to get them cheap and he is picky. I think the last pair he found for under $20 which now sets his goal for this pair. He is not always realistic, but he may luck out again. We like Kohl’s because they normally have a good clearance section. We will also try Sears in a mall that is nearly closed down. They may have things on clearance.
Work is really slow today. It scares me when work is this slow. I only get paid for the work that I do, not by the hour. It started out great this morning and then quickly dropped off. I have a lot of other things to work on, but I had hoped to be busy with verifying all day.
Happy Friday!!!

Today has been a busy day. I’m sure my type of busy day is not the same as some one else’s. I know that my SIL’s day is always busier than mine because she has three children. I’m actually making fun of myself because I call today busy. LOL
I was working this morning on the computer and heard a vehicle coming down our road. I thought it was the FedEx man because he is scheduled to make a delivery to us today. It turned out it was the propane man. He pops in on us several times a year to see how our propane level is. I hurried up and put a little make up on and put on a pair of jeans instead of my “fat pants” and ran outside to ask him if he could also fill up the motor home’s propane tank. We will be camping next month and it would be nice not to have to worry about having enough propane for heat. I’m proud of myself for thinking to do that, but I bet hubby will say that we had plenty. My argument will be that propane man will probably not be back until fall now because we should be able to get through the summer now without another fill up in the home propane tank.
After the propane man left, I decided that I should just head into town for my weekly trip. I was already dressed, afterall. LOL I saw the FedEx man heading towards our house, so I new the delivery would be made today. I stopped at McDonalds and ate lunch and did my Entercard drops. I then stopped at the vet’s office to pick up heartworm pills for the dogs and then the grocery store. I picked up a few things that were pick one get one free. I then went to Walmart and finally printed some photos of the dogs that I want to enter in the calendar contest that Scout won last year. She was one of many winners, of course, but she is in the calendar. I have a photo of Scout that I think could be another winner. I then did my shopping and came home. I will work for another hour and then fix dinner. See, that’s a busy day for me. LOL

It feels like spring today. The temperature is 67 and it’s only 12:58 p.m. As soon as Jack wakes up from his nap, I will take him and Scout for a walk. I could wake him up, but he is sleeping in a sunbeam. I swear, that boy drives me crazy wanting to sleep in a sunbeam. He was all upset this morning and I couldn’t figure out what he wanted. I took him outside, but that didn’t make him happy. I checked his food dish and it was full. I finally realized that he wanted his bed moved to the sunbeam. As soon as I lifted his bed up, he started head butting me in the butt to get me to move faster. He wanted his bed in the sun. He is happy now. Wouldn’t it be nice if the human race could be that happy over such small things?

Yes, I am finally feeling better. I woke up without a headache today! I actually felt like leaving the house, but then I got busy with work and now it is getting too late in the day to go to town. I’ll probably go out either Thursday or Friday.
My best friend sent me a Precious Moments and a Mix ‘N Chop from Pampered Chef for my birthday. The Precious Moments is a little girl looking at a new ring that she is wearing. Laura and I have a favorite sterling silver place on the Internet that we have purchased a few pieces from, so I knew immediately why she chose that piece for me. The Mix ‘N Chop is a neat kitchen tool that I had been wanting. It really chops up ground meats to any size that you want. I used it to make my Hamburger Helper for dinner last night.
Yesterday, I also received in the mail the headset that I ordered for work. Head phones I love it! I am so glad to have a headset again. I spend a lot of time on the phone for work and it has been a pain working without a headset. Mine broke in November and I really coudn’t afford a new one until now. I was getting really tired of holding the phone with my neck. It was a real pain in the neck. LOL If you do a lot of phone work, I highly recommend something like this.

As I suspected, my birthday is just another day. I have done laundry, built a fire, ushered the dogs in and out of the house several times and worked. Shouldn’t I have my feet up relaxing? LOL
The dogs did serenade me this morning with their squeaky toys. Jack chose the “screaming monkey”. If you have never heard it, it’s an awful sound. It’s a scream of some sort. Scout chose to squeak a stuffie dog. They did this for about 5 minutes. It was very sweet of them, but I did have a headache so I probably didn’t appreciate their effort as much as I should have.
Hubby called to tell me that he forgot his wallet at home. This was his way of breaking the news to me that he will not be bringing me dinner and any hopes that I had for a birthday card, flowers or any other small gift are not completely gone. I guess it is better this way. I will not have my hopes up and be disappointed when he comes home empty-handed.
So, that is basically how my birthdays go. If I don’t plan it, then not much happens. It’s really takes the fun out of it when you have to buy your own cake, you know? Hubby has come through a few times, but he is not consistent. My best friend always remembers me though. She said my present should be here today. We have each other’s backs. LOL

I ended up having another migraine today. The good thing is that I didn’t have anything that I had to do or any place that I had to go. I ended up just laying around most of the day, including now. I took my Imitrex and napped for a few hours. I then moved to the couch and watched TV. I finally started being somewhat productive around 2 p.m. I’m feeling better now. I’m just tired from the drugs. If I got up and really did much, then it would probably come back. I hope tomorrow is better.
Tomorrow, is my birthday. I think my husband forgot. I mentioned it last night and he said he was planning on picking up dinner tomorrow night for me. He has never done that. If he is really planning on doing that, he needs to let me know because I always have dinner waiting for him. I normally eat before he gets home because I never know when he will be home. He works in the hotel business and his stopping time varies by what is going on.
My plan was to go out to dinner today because going out during the week is just not practical for us. I just don’t feel like doing anything today though, so I guess it will wait until next weekend.
I wish my husband was the birthday type of person, but he isn’t. He doesn’t get that it is a special day to me. He doesn’t do gifts. I guess I will just order a new battery for my Roomba and call it done. LOL

Scout, my three year old greyhound, has discovered the couch. I have encouraged her from the time she moved in to get on the couch, but she always refused. Jack, our other greyhound, loves the couch and I guess Scout felt it was his territory. A few weeks ago I walked into the living room and found Scout on the couch. It looked like it was not her first time up there because she was totally relaxed. She has gotten on the couch a few times with me since that time, but she mainly gets on the couch when it is empty.
I caught her today on the couch and it looked to me like she was doing a modeling session. She really cracked me up as she “strutted” her stuff as I snapped away. She moved her legs and head in different poses. She smiles quite often and I think you can see her pearly whites in some of the photos.
She has turned into quite the little diva, although she is still a tom boy. She would prefer to run in the mud than a pretty collar any day of the week.

We attended the RV and Travel Show in Downtown St. Louis today. It was a nice show. It was less crowded today than in years past. We spoke with an employee from the RV store that we frequent and he told us that yesterday was the busiest Thursday that they ever have had at the show We were surprised considering the economy. It doesn’t mean that people are buying, of course, but at least people are not staying home.
We purchased a few things for our motor home because the prices were really good. We were disappointed that the only dealership that had a store there was the one that we shop at all the time. It would have been nice to have seen items from other dealerships. We didn’t buy anything exciting. We bought a book that I had been wanting. It tells you what services are available at each exit along the highway. When you are driving a motor home, you want to be sure that you are exiting where you want to exit. It’s not always easy to turn around. We also bought a converter for our water heater. It will convert our water heater from gas to electric. We bought a few other things, but I can’t think of what they were now.
You know you visit dealerships too often when the sales people recognize you. We purchased our travel trailer in 2005 and shopped for it for quite a while. The search for our motor home lasted two years, so we visited several dealerships almost monthly during that time. I told you that my husband is obsessed with camping. LOL
I did not see any Class A motor homes that I like better than ours. Ours is not a high end model, but it suits us perfectly. We did see a fifth wheel that would be great if we were full timers because it was very roomy. We found a Class C that we really liked, but it was twice as much as the price of our Class A. We have no plans to sell our Class A any time soon.
We picked up a lot of brochures and literature from campgrounds and places to visit. We plan on taking a vacation in the spring and then another one in the fall and several weekend trips in between. Our first trip will probably take place in about a month. It’s hard to believe that it’s almost camping season again.
Today was fun. We took our time and enjoyed seeing all of the latest models even though we are no longer in the market.

I’m feeling a little better today. My oby/gyn called me yesterday and is switching my birth control pills, so that made me happy. I knew she would, but I didn’t know if it would involve me visiting her. I really didn’t want to visit her. LOL She is switching me to something that is supposed to be a generic to Seasonale. Seasonale worked well for me, but was very pricey. I think it was up to $80 for me. That is for 3 months, but still, that’s a lot. Today, I picked up the generic and get this, it is $10 for three months. I’m very happy with that. I just hope it works. I will start taking it Sunday night. I sometimes get a migraine when I take birth control pills for the first few days. I hope that doesn’t happen this time because Monday is my birthday. I really do not want to have a migraine on my birthday.
My blood pressure was high today. I think it may be due to some headache medication that I took. My doctor is aware that I take it as it is a prescription. Since I am monitoring my blood pressure at home, I should be able to see what causes it to spike.
Tomorrow, hubby and I are going to the RV show. No, we are not planning on buying a new RV. We did that last year. We are just going to check out accessories and different trips. I’m looking forward to it. We go every year and always go on a Friday during the day because it is less crowded that way. I can’t imagine trying to look at RVs when tons of people are trying to get in and out of them. I really do not like crowds.
