Satellite TV - Another Rate Increase

Published by pattye under Country Life Edit This

We have satellite TV.  We have two choices here; satellite TV or 5 channels.    Today, I received the bill and they increased our rate by another $3.  This is the third rate increase in the past year.  They are pushing me over the edge with these increases.  There is one other satellite company that my husband and I have been considering, but their rate is even more.  I checked again today and it looks like their rate has also increased because they are still $8 more than what we are currently paying.  The other company has a special rate for the first year, but then the second year of your contract, it goes up.  I’m scared of what they might increase my rate to when I’m locked into their two year contract.

I really want to get a DVR.  I have been wanting one for quite a while, but my husband doesn’t want to pay the extra $5 a month.  Now, the rate is up $13 (increase over the past year) and I don’t see anything more for my money and I still don’t have the DVR.  Yell

I’m considering changing our plan and getting less channels.  We will continue to get HBO because we really enjoy it, but I may be able to loose some of the regular channels.  We hadn’t been to the movies for almost ten years until last month and we rarely rent movies because it’s such a pain to drive them back to town, so satellite is really our only entertainment.  It just upsets me that the rates keep going up especially when people are loosing their jobs.  I guess that’s why they are doing it.  I’m assuming people are canceling their service and those of us left behind have to pay extra now.

Have your rates increased recently?
