My Wild Trip to Florida - Part 1
I am basically a boring person. I don’t drink, I don’t party. One of my favorite things to do is just stay home and have “family day” with my dogs and my husband. Pretty boring, right?
The wildest thing I have ever done is drive from my home in Missouri to Florida with just my dog. My husband was in Florida on business and I was unemployed, so I decided it would be fun to drive to Florida to meet him with our dog, Sami. Sami was a cocker spaniel and she loved to travel.
At that time, I had one of my favorite cars. It was a red, two-door, Dodge Shadow. I loved that car. We actually drove it on several road trips including trips to South Dakota and then again to Colorado. It was a small car to be driving across the country, but it was a lot of fun and I remember it fondly. It later was totaled when a van towing a utility trailer ran over the front of it and drug me down an embankment. That’s a story for another time.
This trip to Florida took place 14 years ago. There was not GPS back then and I cannot read a map worth a darn. My map reading skills have caused many arguments with my husband while we are traveling. How did I think I would make it to Florida? I was young and naive and I had AAA route out my trip. My AAA maps worked out well until I got overconfident on a toll road.
To be continued….
I grew up in Florida!!
I can not wait to read more about this adventure!
