My Wild Trip to Florida - Part 2

Published by pattye under Living Edit This

Sami and I left for Florida on a Thursday morning at 4 a.m.  I planned to drive to just outside of Atlanta and spend the night there.  I figured I would hit Atlanta right at rush hour and didn’t want to attempt that, so decided to drive through Atlanta early the next morning.

My first hurdle was making it through downtown St. Louis.  There was one interchange that I was concerned with, but at 4:30 a.m., there was no one in my way and we made it through easily.  Sami and I stopped several times in the morning to take breaks.   We ended up getting in a traffic jam in the Smokey Mountains and I thought that might put us behind schedule, but we ended up arriving at our motel by 3 p.m.  It was pretty early to stop driving, but that is where I had reservations, so we stopped for the night.

We checked into the motel and then went to get ice from the outdoor ice machine.  I accidentally dropped my room key inside the ice machine and then preceded to get my hand stuck in the ice machine.  There I am with my hand stuck in the machine with Sami’s leash in my other hand.  I started to panic because there was no one around.   Finally, I was able to get my hand out.  I felt so stupid, but no one saw except for Sami.   We went back to our room and ordered dinner and ate.  Later in the evening I did another stupid thing.  I decided when I walking Sami to test out the new mace that I had purchased.  I sprayed it and right then the wind kicked up and blew it back in my face.  I MACED myself.

To be continued….
