My Wild Trip to Florida - Part 4

Published by pattye under Living Edit This

Sami and I are now in the final leg of our journey.  We have overcome several challenges; me getting my hand stuck in the ice machine, spraying myself with mace, almost crashing in Atlanta and our car breaking down in Florida.

We merge onto a toll road in Florida and are cruising along.  I tell Sami that we are doing great and I am so proud of myself because I did it.  I got us to Florida.  I look down at the map and know we are almost there.  I look up and realize that we have just passed our exit.  Crud!  What am I going to do now?  I can’t read a map. The only reason we were able to make it that far was because a lady at AAA had highlighted the way for me.  I am now in un-highlighted territory.  I start to panic.  Okay, I will just have to turn around.  Turning around on a toll road is not an easy thing.  I finally see a rest area and pull off.   It seems like everyone is watching me.  Is it because I look scared to death?  I look at the big map that is at the rest area and figure out a way to get back to my exit.  Somehow, I manage to do that.  I know it shouldn’t be hard, but I am almost in a panicked state at this point.   I find the exit and then am able to get back to my highlighted route.

I pulled right up to the resort that my husband wass staying and I went inside to find  him.  He isn’t there.  He left a note that says he went out with co-workers.  Grrrr!  I drove for two days and faced all those challenges and he is not even waiting for me!   I think I ended up waiting for him for an hour.  He finally showed up and I gave him the keys.  I told him he was the driver now.

It was an adventure that I will never forget and I am so glad I did it.  Would I do it again? I don’t know.  I’m older and wiser now.  I know so many bad things could have happened to me and I was lucky that I made it there safely.  There is GPS now, so that would give me confidence.  I just don’t know if I would do it again.  It was fun though being on the open road with Sami and my Garth Brooks tapes. It’s memories I will always have.

So, what is the craziest adventure you have ever had?
