I have known my husband since my junior year in high school.  It has been almost 27 years now.  We met in kind of an unusual way, I think. It was basically a blind prom date. I know, I’m pretty pathetic.  Who goes to their prom with a blind date?  Me!

Here’s the story…we had a mutual friend named Lee.  Lee was in Business Law class with me.   It was the week of prom and Lee wanted to take my friend Karen to prom.  He wanted to take her to dinner in St. Louis, but her parents wouldn’t let her go unless another couple went along with them.  I had planned on going with a group of girls, but that week all the girls started getting dates.  Lee asked if I had a date, if I would go with them to dinner in St. Louis.  I said okay.  Later that day I was at my locker when Lee approached me with a guy who he introduced as Jeff.  He asked Jeff what he thought and Jeff said “yeah, she’ll do.”  Do you believe that?  I guess I wasn’t as offended by the remark then as I am now because I said I would go out with him.

The rest of the week we were all busy making plans.  It seemed like the plans changed by the hour.  It turned out that there were 8 couples, I think, all going together.  I can’t remember for sure now.

My parents were out of town for my brother’s college graduation, so Jeff picked me up at a friend’s house.  Here is a photo of us. (I would love to be that thin again…wow!) Doesn’t it look like I’m thinking that I have snagged him?  Believe me things did not go as planned.
