Greyhound Rooing

Published by pattye under Greyhounds Edit This

Greyhounds typically do not bark.  Yes, there are exceptions.  Scout barks, but she lived with a lab for a while.  I think he taught her some bad habits.  LOL  She doesn’t really bark that often though and I don’t think she has ever barked when someone knocked on the door. One of the reasons that my husband wanted a greyhound is because they are quiet.  We had a cocker spaniel for 15 years and she was a barker.

Why do greyhounds not bark?  I do not know the reason.  They are normally raised in kennels and do not understand house living until they retire from the track.  I have seen videos on greyhounds in kennels and it is loud.  I do not have the answer as to why they normally do not bark.

As I stated, Scout does bark from time to time.  I actually like that because I live in the middle of no where.  I feel better having a big dog that might bark if someone threatened us.  I know, she probably would just give them a kiss, but I can hope that she would let out that huge bark that she has and scare off the bad person.

Jack is a quiet guy, but recently started rooing.  Hubby does not know this.   He would not be happy to hear that I have encouraged it.  Jack and Scout both seem so relaxed after a rooing session.  LOL

So, what is greyhound rooing?   Here is a video that I found on You Tube.  There are many to choose from, but this seems like a good one.  It definitely caused my hounds to roo along with them.
