It was the day before camping….
All is calm. The camper is packed with food, clothes and blankets. The dogs are ready to go. Hubby is ready to go. I guess I am ready. LOL
We should be on the road in about 24 hours. I will pack my last minute things tomorrow which are my laptop, make-up (I don’t wear much, but refuse to be seen without foundation) a dog bed and water for the dogs.
We always bring fresh water for the dogs. We usually fill up their pitcher with water from the fountain at the campground when they run out of their own water. Hubby needs to call the state park to be sure that water will be available. Water is not typically turned on until April 1st, but the host site normally has water. We can fill up the motor home at home if needed and we will have bottled water for the dogs. We used to have a 23′ foot trailer that we pulled with our Jeep Liberty. Yep, it can be done, but it’s a tough tow. The Jeep prefers to be a tow behind vehicle instead of a towing vehicle. We could not fill the trailer with water before leaving the house because it would have made towing it harder. It’s not as big of a deal with the motor home, but it does make it heavier which I assume causes it to use more gas.
If you travel with your dogs, I highly recommend carrying a copy of their medical records with you as well as a photo of them. The photos are necessary incase they become lost. I hope I never need their medical records or their photos, but it gives me some peace knowing that I have the information with me if I need it. I just keep it in a folder in the motor home.
I hope to be able to update my blog from the road. This will be the first year that I will be traveling with a laptop. I have a wireless Internet card, so as long as there is cell phone reception I will be able to get online. The park we are camping at over Memorial Day does not have cell phone reception. I will have to drive to the top of the hill to get a connection. You should see all the campers standing on top of the hill using their cell phones.
Next update should be from the road. I hope Hubby will be able to sleep tonight. He is so excited about camping. LOL
